The 1950's conjure of memories of black
and white television, women wearing pearls, home cooked
meals and household chores done the "old-fashion
way" — lots of scrubbing. How to's and other
household gems were passed down from from moms and grandmothers.
We live in an instant fix world. Back then, most households
did whatever they could to stretch their budget and find
the secret to repairing that wood scratch or stain to
extend its life a little longer.
When we came across this little 3 x 5 book
in the Mrs Baird's archives, we had to smile (and we
think you will too) as we read some of the simple hints
that we take for granted today. Yet even more, we found
the illustrations humourous and engaging. Someone had
to think of all these images and then draw them.
So we hope you'll get a kick out of some
of our favorites ... |
