Sloppy Tom's

Serves 6

1 pound lean ground turkey
1 onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
8 ounces tomato sauce
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
6 Mrs Baird's Hamburger Buns

In a large nonstick skillet, cook ground turkey over medium-high heat, until lightly browned and no longer pink in the center, stirring to break up the turkey. You can add chicken broth or water — a tablespoon at a time — if using very lean turkey. The added moisture will help it cook without adding excess oil.) Stir in onion, red bell pepper, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, black olives, water, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, cover, reduce heat, and simmer on low for 15 to 20 minutes, or until flavors have blended, stirring occasionally. Just before you are ready to serve, place Mrs Baird's Hamburger Buns on a baking sheet and warm in a preheated 350° F oven for 3 to 4 minutes, or until warmed through. Spoon turkey mixture into warm Mrs Baird's Hamburger Buns to serve.
